Technology and Innovation

At Sapphire International School (SIS), access to digital content is moderated by adults to ensure a secure and enriching learning environment. Parents are encouraged to work closely with their children to promote responsible use of technology, while students are motivated to explore digital materials that extend beyond traditional classroom resources.

The school leverages Information and Communication Technology (ICT), AI, robotics, and Chromebooks to enhance learning, offering students the opportunity to work at their own pace, develop problem-solving skills, and participate in self-assessments. SIS has three state-of-the-art computer labs and 40 Chromebooks, allowing grades 6-8 to engage in a more interactive, hands-on learning experience.

In partnership with ICT360, SIS provides students with courses ranging from basic hardware and software skills to advanced topics such as coding, app development, AI, game development, data analysis, and video editing. This curriculum ensures students gain a strong technological foundation to become confident innovators with an underlying sense of ethical use of technology.

The Robotics Lab, created in collaboration with KAMP Nasta, enables students to apply theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios. As a Centre of Excellence, SIS regularly hosts guest lectures from scientists and experts, fostering interest in STEM fields.

Additionally, SIS uses the ERP system and live bus tracking to ensure seamless communication and safe student commutes.

Life Skills

Life skills are abilities for adaptive and positive behavior that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life (WHO definition).

In particular, life skills are psychosocial competencies and interpersonal skills that help people make informed decisions, solve problems, think critically and creatively, communicate effectively, build healthy relationships, empathize with others, and cope with managing their lives healthily and productively.

At SIS, Life Skills are inculcated as an ongoing process. Learners learn Interpersonal skills while doing group work, and build thinking skills while researching and solving higher-order questions or performing tasks that require the application of knowledge, skills, and attitudes.

The various activities during the year build empathy and help learners deal with stress and manage emotions. Specific screening of short movies that provide reflection and self-awareness time for learners is integrated into the school timetable.

The Human Library

The Human Library is an international organization and movement that first started in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2000. It aims to address people’s prejudices by helping them to talk to those they would not normally meet.

Sapphire International School provides a platform for learners to identify and challenge their own biases – conscious or unconscious, prejudices, stigma, and stereotypes and talk to people and engage in discussions they would normally find difficult to engage in. The concept of the Human Library has resulted in a better understanding of diversity to help create more inclusive and cohesive communities across cultural, religious, social, and ethnic differences.

In this concept, the human volunteers opt to speak about their experiences openly to an interested audience and answer any questions they are asked. The Human Library is a place where difficult questions are expected, appreciated, and answered. It is an opportunity to focus on the ‘human side’ of information.

Community Outreach

Laboratories:

Learners at Sapphire International School are actively engaged with the world around them through a number of learning experiences. Laboratories are one of the platforms through which learners are stimulated and encouraged to ask questions, hypothesize, observe, test, find evidence, collect data, analyze, modify conclusions, communicate, and re-question.

Exploration and discovery does not happen only in laboratories at Sapphire International School.
Learners are exposed to varied settings — the laboratory, classroom, field, music and dance rooms, etc to explore the interconnectedness of the world around them.

Learners are involved in peer and collaborative learning using scientific and mathematical vocabulary to communicate their understanding, ideas, and observations. Learning through experimentation and research enables the development of values of collaboration, sensitivity, empathy, equality of opportunities, and respect for diversity.

Life Skills Program:

Life skills are abilities for adaptive and positive behavior that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life (WHO definition).

In particular, life skills are psychosocial competencies and interpersonal skills that help people make informed decisions, solve problems, think critically and creatively, communicate effectively, build healthy relationships, empathize with others, and cope with managing their lives in a healthy and productive manner.

Specific screening of short movies that provide reflection and self-awareness time for learners is integrated into the school curriculum.

Opportunities to learners to express themselves in one-to-one sessions, small group sessions, and larger sessions on issues that concern the growing learners are addressed through an ongoing process.

The Human Library:

The concept of the Human Library has resulted in a better understanding of diversity to help create more inclusive and cohesive communities across cultural, religious, social, and ethnic differences.

The Human Library is very much like a regular library where people go to check out books. The only difference is that the books are all human volunteers who have opted to speak about their experiences openly to an interested audience and answer any questions they are asked. The Human Library is a place where difficult questions are expected, appreciated, and answered. It is an opportunity to focus on the ‘human side’ of information.
